The Judge was Dr. Tamas
Jakkel from Hungary and to judge the sweep stake was Svend
Løvenkjær Denmark.
You can participate if your
dog is dog/bitch of the year in your breed, has won BIS on
bigger shows, won the titles as European winner, World
winner or if your dog is senior/veteran of the year. I think
that the total entry is 116 (incl. juniorhandlers). I was
spectator and working behind stage in the mid eighties and
that was great fun but this is the first time I participate
with a dog. I remember one year that a Yorkshire called
¨Hold-up¨ was up against a Rottweiler called
¨Dux¨ and they where both very big personalities
and great-looking. I don't remember who won!
This is a SHOW with unfair
competition. There will be 4 preliminary heats with all
competing against all (in my first heat will be an Irish
wolfhound,Giant poodle,Samojed spitz and so on). Your are
meant to change dress if you go in the the semifinals. There
is also Junior handlers cup, senior and veterans cup,
obidient and agility cups. There will be an election of
¨Winner of year¨ and this year it is:
¨Expedition Sirius 2000¨
Winner of winners 2001 was
Siberian Husky dkch nch intch khvv1998-2000 sw1998-2000
nordv99 finv99 Chouan Breaking The Waves. Dog of the year
(all breeds) in Sweden 2000.
It was fun to be there and
the Cairns did show well but as I mentioned above, it is an
hard and unfair competition. In Jackpot's first heat we won
over an Irish wolfhound! Allcairn Janet Jackson lost her
first heat but won the sweep stake in her group but did not
go futher. Fettercairn Saga lost in her first heat as a
veteran but did a good profile in the sweep stake. I was
together with one of the judges the day after and he did not
realise that she was a veteran at 10 1/2 year! In Jackpot
and my next competition we where beaten by a Beagle (that
was unfair or so I think but the Beagle had a hole lot of
¨chearleaders¨) So out of futher competion Jackpot
was ¨lent ¨ to a juniorhandler (juniorhandler of
the year 2000) Hilde Ulvseth. They did well even she did
have a hard time with him and was #2 in Junior Cup final.
